Staub - Dust!

Also, wenn man die Treppe herunterkommt, da gibts ein grosser Raum. Hier sieht man nur die Sauerei die wir noch nicht zusammengewischt hatten.

This is the big mess that happens when one does the sanding of new drywall.

Hinten wurde das dazumale Büro in zwei kleinere Zimmer geteilt: ein winziges Zimmer zum schlafen (oder Gästezimmer) und ein grösseres Büro. Hier hatte ich den Staub aufgewischt und dann noch gestaubsaugt.

At the back of the house there used to be an office. This space has now been divided into two smaller rooms. The smaller of the two will function as a bedroom (tiny!) and the other as our office. Hier I've had a chance to clean up already. Priming, then subfloor, then painting, then move in...um...March? I think we're aiming to get it done for March..

Hair - Haar

Do you like my hair? I have a bald spot here at the back, but it runs from ear to ear...
I also have some frizzy curl on top, which is sticking up in all directions...
The hair at the nape of my neck is almost long enough to tie a nice pink ribbon around it...imagine, my first ponytail!
Who knows what my hair will look like after this falls out and grows back later...

Wie gefällt Euch mein Haar? Ich habe zwar eine Glatze, oder mehrere Glatzen, und hier oben am Kopf stehn sie mir in alle Richtungen ab. Unten, ja, da kann ich ja fast ein Pferdeschwänzchen zusammenbinden, mit einer schönen, rosa Schleife...und was meint ihr wegen der Haarfarbe? Fast siehts so rötlich aus...wer weiss wie es dann später aussehen wird!

Sonja's hair - Sonjas Haar

Her hair is falling out in various places, and coming in coarser and reddish. Wonder if she'll end up having similar hair to Maia?

Ihr Haar fällt aus und ist irgendwie rauher und scheint fast rötlich nachzuwachsen. Vielleicht gibts Chrüseli wie Maia sie hat?

Gumpe, gumpe...

Also, ich bin ja scho ächli jung für das Ding, aber sMami findet, wil ich di ganz Nacht eso fesch mit de Beinli muess ginge, ich sölls doch probiere...

Exhausted children

All parents have sleep stories about their kids... Here Sonja was cranky and upset, so I swaddled her nice and tight, and she calmed down immediately and went to sleep. Snug as a bug in a rug! Those red cheek might mean she's already teething...oh well. It's gotta happen some time I guess...

This happened after Benjamin's first day of Casa Montessori (ages 3-6). He was upgraded from the Toddler group. Although the classroom, teachers and kids were not completely unfamiliar (his toddler teacher had him visit for a couple of weeks prior to upgrading), it is a pretty big change for him, now being the youngest child there. But he likes it a lot, he is happy, and looks forward to going there every morning. BUT, when he comes home, boy is he tired....so tired that he falls asleep on the couch...

...and tries to wake up and continues to sleep sitting up!

Schlittschuh laufen - Skating!

Andrej hat dieses Ding gekauft, damit Benjamin sich daran halten kann. Er muss zwar noch von hinten gestützt werden. Und er mag nur so 5 Minuten lang, dann will er Pause machen. Hier sind sie draussen auf einer Kunsteisbahn. Manchmal gehen sie zu einer Arena. Seit gestern kann Ben sogar bis zu zweimal eine Runde durch die ganze Arena machen, gestützt von Andrej!

Andrej bought this thing to help Ben learn how to skate. He is slowly getting more comfortable, first walking, then on the ice. Andrej has to hold him from behind. Usually they take advantage of the two outdoor rinks we have in the neighbourhood, but there are plenty of arenas too. Yesterday apparently he went around the rink twice before requesting a break!

Maia und Liam - Weihnachten in Vancouver

Sonja - 2.5 months

She wasn't happy in her chair on the floor, she wanted to be up with us. She's not quite able to sit yet but for 5 minutes at a time, and with this insert tied around her belly, she seems quite content...

Natürlich kann sie noch nicht sitzen, aber so gehts eigentlich ganz gut, wenigstens für 5 Minuten oder so...
